Thredbo Powder Morning
75 × 50 cm | Limited Edition Glass Print
Captured on a bluebird powder morning around 2011–2012, this image takes me back to the days when every fresh snowfall meant one thing—getting up at sunrise and racing to the lift line for a day on the mountain.
I headed out early to capture this shot before heading to the chairlift for first tracks.
Back then there were no camera screens or GPS flight paths—just a GoPro strapped to the first dji drone that came out.
You’d launch it, watch it go up hope you’d guessed the angle right, and only find out once you got home.
It’s a photo from a different era. Today, drone flights are heavily restricted within Kosciuszko National Park, making images like this increasingly difficult to capture legaly.
This print captures one of those perfect Australian winter mornings—fresh snow, golden sunrise light, and the excitement of knowing untouched powder was waiting just minutes away.
